If/When FuturECar is awarded, we'll be able to share more about our 80+ private and public sector partners committed to advancing Canada's global automotive advantage.
Windsor is the home of the automotive sector in Canada. The first Ford Model C rolled off the line at the Walkerville Motor Company in 1904 in what would become the bedrock of the region's economy for the next century.
The University of Windsor has a proud tradition of partnership with the automotive sector. UWindsor's research projects have supported the "Big 3", global Tier 1 Suppliers, supply chain leaders and parts manufacturers.
UWindsor was the home of Auto21, a national research initiative that supported $2.6B in benefits to Canada including jobs, social benefits, health and industrial improvements. Auto21 supported 200 applied research projects and resulted in 320 patents, licenses and commercialization agreements and more then 8,630 publications.
Today, the University of Windsor leads research in the next generation of automotive technologies and is highlighted by the CHARGE Lab, led by Dr. Narayan Kar, developing new prototypes, models and testing of electric machine motors, drives and control systems.
